Street Children Cricket World Cup comes to India

The second edition of the Street Children Cricket World Cup will be held in New Delhi in 2023 — the launch starts in August 2020.

The event will bring young people living on the streets from across the world to take part in a cricket tournament to highlight their right to protection. The children will also be part of an epic train journey from Chennai to Delhi symbolic of the journey these children take away from their homes.

Street Child United has been hosting multi-country events with street-connected children since the last 10 years. Each event has seen over 10 nations come together ahead of The FIFA World Cup, Olympics and the ICC Cricket World Cup to offer a global platform for the children living on streets. In 2019, two teams put together along with The HOPE Foundation and PTC India Financial Services Ltd. played against nine countries at the prestigious Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

Street Child United Young Leader Samantha, who represented Team England at the Street Child World Cup Moscow 2018 and Street Child Cricket World Cup 2019, is working with Fly on the Wall Press to publish a book of poetry and artwork created by young people who have taken part in Street Child United events. Our child and youth champions Aman Bharti, Manoj More, Nisha, Rajib and Shalini have all contributed to the book.
